Office of the Fire Commissioner
The Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC) is the provincial body responsible for the general oversight of the fire rescue and search and rescue portion of Alberta's public safety system. Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research
Intentional and unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for Albertans between the ages of 1 and 44. The Alberta Centre for Injury Control & Research (ACICR) is a provincial organization committed to advancing the impact of prevention, emergency response, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries in Alberta.
Fire Prevention Canada (FIPRECAN)
Fire Prevention Canada is the national voice of fire prevention and education in Canada.
Incorporated in 1976 as a registered charity, FIPRECAN is a non-profit organization, with a primary mission to increase visibility and awareness of fire prevention nationally, through educating the public directly and through the Fire Service.
The Home Safety Council® (HSC) is dedicated to preventing home related injuries, by educating people of all ages to be safer in and around their homes. The website provides injury prevention, fire safety and emergency preparedness resources that are downloadable.
The Canada Safety Council is a national, non-government, charitable organization dedicated to safety, with a mission to lead in the national effort to reduce preventable deaths, injuries and economic loss in public and private places throughout Canada.
National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
The mission of the international nonprofit NFPA, established in 1896, is to reduce the worldwide burden of fire and other hazards on the quality of life by providing and advocating consensus codes and standards, research, training, and education. Website provides safety information for consumers, children and public educators.
Fire Kills – You can Prevent it
The Fire Kills campaign is a national fire safety publicity campaign in the UK. It aims to reduce the number of deaths in house fires by raising awareness of the issues. Website provides TV advertisements and fire safety information, etc.
Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office
The mission of the OFM is to contribute to an environment for the residents of Ontario that is safe from fire and other public safety hazards by providing leadership and expertise in the reduction and elimination of these hazards. The “Fire Safety and Public Education” tab takes visitors to fire hazards and safety information.
